Minuteman is proud to announce that our very own Vice President of Finance, Wilson Tang, was honorably recognized by National Parking Association magazine. The magazine featured Wilson in their September 2011 issue. He was specifically chosen to give his professional executive perspective on finance and management due to his success at Minuteman Parking and his past achievements in auditing and executive positions with Nestle, Dole, and GTE.

As Vice President of Finance, it is Wilson’s job to monitor profits, growth, and foresee future revenue. This includes but is not limited to: responsibility of all accounting, payroll, and timekeeping, as well as claims administrations. It is the Vice President’s job to not only manage all the company’s finances and make sure everything is balanced and running smoothly, but to also ensure warm customer care is provided and solicited.

Wilson joined the Minuteman family in 2006. After just 5 short years with him aboard, Minuteman Parking has seen phenomenal progress and exponential growth. With a shared goal of maximizing revenue while simultaneously providing unbeatable customer service, we plan to maintain this outstanding reputation. Minuteman would like to extend a sincere thank you to Wilson for all his hard work. Here’s to the next 5 years!

Minuteman Parking has officially extended our parking solutions services to the stars in Hollywood! We were extremely honored to help Rock and Rain Inc. host this event to debut Gwen Stefani’s new line of clothing, “Harajuku Mini,” for Target. We are proud to announce the event last Saturday, held at Jim Henson Studios in L.A., was a complete success. Our own Director of Special Events, Treavor Bramwell, along with our staff of experienced and hospitable valet drivers, helped make this night go as smoothly as possible for all guests and attendants.

Gwen Stefani officially launched her brand new children’s clothing line, “Harajuku Mini,” for children ages 6 months+ on November 13th, to be sold at Target retail stores. This Japanese anime-inspired line is for both boys and girls; babies, kids, and teens. Prices range from $4 to $30.

 The Minuteman family is forever growing! Meet the latest additions- Wilbur and his sister, Wilma. Wilbur and Wilma are our two newest limo party buses that add an extra splash of elegance to our fleet. Wilbur is the younger sibling holding up to 12 passengers while Wilma is the bigger sister, holding up to 17. With these two new party buses up and running, Minuteman is more than ready to chauffeur around you and your friends for a night free of worry!

Minuteman Parking Company was proud to be the Crystal Sponsor of the Seattle Marriott Golf Classic last week in Seattle, WA. The golf tournament was held at Bear Creek Country Club and raised money to support Seattle Children’s Uncompensated Care program.

Since 1907 Seattle Children’s has been caring for children from the Pacific Northwest and around the Nation.  The funds raised from the Marriott Charity Golf Classic will be directed to Uncompensated Care at Children’s, which will ensure that no child is ever turned away due to their family’s inability to pay.  All of the donations support a healthier future for Seattle Children’s increasing number of patients. Each year, Children’s treats over 190,000 children, many of whose families cannot afford the cost of their medical care.  This year, the hospital expects to provide over $100 million in uncompensated care for those in need.

The day-long golf event was a huge success that ended with a dinner buffet and silent auction. Minuteman would like to thank all of the golfers who played in this year’s tournament. The team at Minuteman is fully committed to philanthropy and our Marriott partners in the Northwest.

We are delighted to announce that Hotel Oceana Santa Monica is our newest hotel property. Years ago, 849 Ocean Avenue was a respectable apartment complex where Stan Laurel (of Laurel & Hardy) once lived. Yet its location, and the lively neighborhood in which it stood, begged for innovation. Visionaries took control and converted the structure into the Oceana Santa Monica, a luxury boutique hotel catering to those who command the privacy and comforts of a home away from home environment. In 2007, the hotel reopened after a $16 million renovation to offer the ambience of a private beach club, as airy as the shores it overlooks.

Valet and bell service will be available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. Hotel Oceana will join our growing list of clients in Southern California. Minuteman also provides services at neighboring properties, which are located close by in Santa Monica, CA.

Minuteman Parking moved into our new office in El Segundo this month.  Less than one mile from the ocean, the new offices are close to downtown El Segundo and the 105 and 405 Freeways.

According to Chris Fox, President of Minuteman Parking:

We had been at our old offices for more than 5 years and with our recent growth, we were nearly busting at the seams.  Our new location in El Segundo projects a more professional image, plus it is centrally located for our employees.  We have the room we need now for offices and storage, plus plenty of room to grow.

I think the new setup is more conducive to working and it has already made the finance team more organized and productive.  Plus, the location is close to El Porto which is one of the best surf spots in the South Bay.

There are some new amenities in the office too.  For example, there is a large lunchroom with a flat screen TV and couch where employees can relax.  The lunchroom will double as a training facility.  In Chris’ office, there is also a large conference room where employees can collaborate on projects.  In addition, there is much more space to prominently display the Boston sports memorabilia that Chris has collected over the years, but the Wheaties boxes have not yet made an appearance.

Minuteman Parking's Newest Customer

The mission statement for St. Jude Medical Center in Fullerton states:

To extend the healing ministry of Jesus in the tradition of the Sisters of St. Joseph of Orange by continually improving the health and quality of life of the people in the communities we serve

Starting today, Minuteman Parking will be helping St. Jude reach their mission by providing a shuttle operation to deliver employees and patients to their destinations more efficiently and safely, and by providing Lane Ambassadors who will help introduce their new pay-in-lane parking equipment.

St. Jude joins the growing trend of medical facilities that are using parking and valet solutions to improve both patient and visitor satisfaction along with improving “patient flow”.  These services also have an added side benefit of improving safety for all patients, visitors and employees.

St. Jude Medical Center is the latest member in the family of medical facilities served by Minuteman Parking.  We also added Little Company of Mary Medical Center in June and Children’s Hospital of Orange County (CHOC) in April.  In addition,  we also provide parking services at Hoag Hospital, St. Joseph Hospital of Orange and Newport Lido Medical Center in Orange County, the Loma Linda Medical Center in Loma Linda and St. Bernardine Medical Center in San Bernardino.

Minuteman Parking Manager Ron Machón received a special “Recognition to Service Excellence” award from the Torrance Marriott recently.  Only four associates from each property are recognized each quarter, and Ron was the only vendor recognized for his efforts.

“Exceptional customer service is one of the cornerstones for Minuteman Parking and it is wonderful that one of our employees is recognized for his efforts by one of our customers.  This award is a tribute to the hard work and dedication to customer service that Ron brings to everything he does,” says Minuteman Parking President Chris Fox.

Ron just completed his 1-year anniversary at the Torrance Marriott in May.  However, Ron has been working for Minuteman Parking since 2004 when he started out as a valet at the Marina Del Rey Marriott while attending college.  Ron graduated from Cal State Long Beach in 2007 with a BS degree, majoring in criminal justice and minoring in Human Development.  In his spare time, Ron enjoys riding motorcycles.

In the October newsletter for St. Bernardine Medical Center in San Bernardino, Minuteman Parking is highlighted as having a positive impact on patient satisfaction.

Here is what Kimberlee Prokopij, patient satisfaction coordinator, said about Minuteman Parking’s valet parking service:

“By the amount and tone of patient feedback we’ve received so far, the free valet parking seems to be having a very positive impact.”

The hospital began offering free valet parking service though Minuteman Parking in June, and more than 90 visitors use the service each day.  The free valet parking proves how important it is to provide patients and visitors with a great first impression even before they enter the building.
